Raina is the founder of "Raina the Halifax Mermaid". She has an
extensive background working with children including her Bachelor of
Child and Youth Development and her Bachelor of Education (Elementary).
Raina swims in a silicone tail made by Merbellas Studios.
When Raina's not a mermaid, she enjoys taking photos, modelling,
writing, playing guitar and music, and spending time with family and
friends. Raina has overcome illnesses and personal struggles to be the
fish she is today, and she hopes to inspire many others. You can keep

My name is Raina and I run my own company, Raina the Halifax Mermaid. I employ an assistant, a second main mermaid (My sister Ama) and back up assistants and mermaids! My main focus as a mermaid is working with children to entertain, and educate them about the environment. That means the majority of the money I make comes from doing birthday parties and events that focus on kids and family. But that is not all I do. I have been in a music video, been on a well known Canadian TV show, had loads of print coverage, been on the radio, had photo publications, run an online mermaid magazine, have a mermaid book, appear at many festivals & parades, and do loads of public speaking! I also have been a successful model , enjoyed some success and loads of fun with photography and music, and am a licensed teacher and early childhood educator.
